walking 9/11

On 9/11/2002 Keiko Kayamoto and I Performed a wedding ceremony on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah. On opposite ends of the flats we disrobed at our starting points. We walked towards each other until the other was in sight on the horizon, and we continued towards each other until we met in the middle. She cut my hair and placed it in a styrofoam box proclaiming us married. Did it last?……..We fortunately remain friends. (3 channel video coming soon) by Josh Churchill

Dream Journal

is a series of stenciled crates and crate lids that protected art work in it’s transportation. This graphite and ink drawing is on a 4′x5′ crate lid. Below these soft sculpture sea star/humanoids gather around a crystal formation where underneath a live feed of the room streams through a monitor inside the recycled crate. A  camera exists in a hole cut from inside a painted urchin on the wall in the room giving the sense that something unsuspecting may be observing us.

A portrait series of a California urchin is continued on rag paper aprox 5′x4′ with spray paint, acrylic, coffee and graphite.

conflict ov intrist

Conflict ov Interest, is a 3′x3′ collage of sewn delinquent student loan papers with a hand cut stencil of a California urchin spray painted on it’s surface. If  20 of these sold for $1,000. 00, I may repay my undergraduate federal loans. Forget the degree in surrealism- that’s more delinquent letters than I can get away with. Selling 4 of them, would pay off what I owe the school directly. Then I could obtain my official transcript to attend graduate school.

literally, blood and oil

Inspired by concepts of Hmong family designs, In 2007 my girlfriends mother drew my blood to stencil this ceiling at Space 868, in Bolinas. On the other side of the glass which appeared to be a reflection, the same design was stenciled with crude oil found from off the beach in Crete, Greece.
